The blog post that I read, titled '5 Things to Stop Doing When You're Struggling and Feeling Drained,' has a lot of great information and motivational tips. The first thing it says is to "stop comparing your struggle to anyone else's." This is basically saying that everyone is allowed to have bad days and have problems. There is always going to be somebody out there who has bigger problems than you do, but that doesn't mean you have to feel guilty about the things that are problems in your life. You are entitled to having a bad day every once in a while. The next suggestion the blog gives is to "stop focusing on things that aren't priorities." It is really important to sit back and figure out what our real priorities are. There are only so many hours in the day, so we have to be choosy with what things we are going to focus our time and energy on. The third piece of advice is to "stop expecting yourself to do what you could do before." As we get older, chances are that we will change physically and emotionally. We might not be able to do certain things that we could when we were younger, but we shouldn't make this a bad thing. We have to learn to accept some things in life, and this is one of them. Next, Lori Deschene, the author of Tiny Buddha, says to "stop pushing yourself when you need to take it easy." Self-care is very important, and people need to stop pushing themselves so hard. Sleep, exercise, a good diet, and relaxation are just as important as getting done with our work. Putting a bunch of pressure on ourselves will never have a positive outcome. Lastly, Lori says to "stop reminding yourself of how you're "falling behind"." We shouldn't have such a negative mindset; we should be nicer to ourselves and be more positive overall. Lori says, "While we may want growth and change, we don't need it in order to be worthy or happy," which I found very interesting. This is such a good point, and I think it is something everyone needs to be reminded of.
This blog appeals to anybody in any level of school, anyone working at any type of job, and anyone who is working towards some type of goal in general. Lori's five pieces of advice can apply to anybody of any age because they are things that can make life a little easier. I think people are very quick to feel stressed and are very hard on themselves, so I think this blog post can help just about anyone. Even if you're not in school, these are good things to remember. These are things that can make people feel happier and more peaceful in their day-to-day lives.
